One thing is certain for all business executives time is a currency that comes at a premium. In my business travels I have always enjoyed an early morning out of Harare to Johannesburg, Victoria Falls and Bulawayo, for the simple reason that, once I arrive, I can maximise my working day.
Recently, I found myself having to travel to Lusaka, Zambia for a business mining conference and ultimately our office establishing a branch there. Knowing my travel preferences, Clementine my travel agent called and said, “Mr Ngwenya, you will not believe this, fastjet now offers early morning flights from Harare to Lusaka”. Without any hesitation, I asked her to only book me on these morning flights.
She briefed me that the flights are available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, departing Harare at 06:00 am and arriving in Lusaka at 06:50 am. I was delighted at this time, referring to similar times fastjet offers to Bulawayo from Harare.
I was equally impressed with the flight time from Lusaka to Harare. “You can now depart Lusaka at 07:20 am and arrive in Harare at 08:15 am in time for your 09:30 meetings,” she said as I whistled with excitement.
Within minutes, Clementine shared my fastjet ticket together with the other three business associates I was travelling with. “Value Plus ticket, it read and included lounge access and a host of other benefits suitable for a business traveller”.
On the day of travel, the priority check-in was smooth. “Here is your Board Pass and Lounge Voucher Mr Ngwenya, thank you for choosing fastjet and have a great flight” remarked the check-in agent in her immaculate red uniform. We made our way to the lounge, where we were treated to some hearty snacks and a lovely cup of coffee. Using the lounge’s swift wi-fi we managed to catch up on our emails as we waited to board our flight to Lusaka.
The lounge attendant walked up to us and cleared her throat before she said, “Excuse me, flight FN8707 to Lusaka is now boarding, kindly follow me to the boarding gate”, we looked at each other with an approving eye of such an elevated level of customer service.
We boarded and took off and before we knew it, the captain announced that our full fastjet flight would be commencing our descent into Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport. We landed at 06:50 AM and swiftly made our way to our first business meeting in the Kabulonga area. So convenient.
By lunchtime, we had put in a productive business morning, and all this was made possible by the introduction of this early morning fastjet flight on the Harare to Lusaka route.
Thank you, Clementine, for making this our flight choice to Lusaka and thank you fastjet for being responsive to the needs of the business and leisure community. Our travels have just been made easy.
