Fight off winter blues with this delicious beef pie. It will warm the cockles of your heart, and as a bonus it is a healthy alternative to burgers.
Method
Heat the oil medium to hot and brown the beef cubes in batches.
Fry the onions in the same pot, add chopped garlic and fillet cubes.
Add in the thyme, Guinness beer, carrots and peas.
Simmer for 1 hour.
Remove all woody stems.
Add the brown onion soup to the water. Mix well.
Add the soup mixture to the beef and keep stirring while the filling thickens.
Heat the oven to 180℃
Dust a clean surface with flour and roll out the pastry using a rolling pin.
Grease a pie dish, and line it with the pastry.
Trim the edges.
Add the beef filling.
Cover the filling with a pastry lining, and using a brush generously cover the pastry with the whisked egg.
Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown
Serve hot and enjoy!
