Travelling with a Smart Bag

Guests can bring Smart Bags on board all fastjet flights as long as

  1. the lithium battery is disconnected and placed in the bag,

  2. and the bag adheres to size and weight restrictions mentioned above.

If you are unable to remove the battery from the bag, for safety reasons it will not be accepted for travel, as lithium batteries pose a possible fire risk. This is in line with IATA rules.

Drop & fly

If there is no space to store a bag onboard, the bag will be removed from you before boarding the aircraft, the bag will be placed in the hold of the aircraft and a drop and fly tag will be affixed with a copy of the tag handed back to you.

If your hand-held smart bag is labelled Drop & Fly the battery must be removed and carried in the cabin before your bag is placed in the cargo hold. Please note the bag cannot weigh more than 7 kg or exceed 55 x 35 x 20 cm.

On arrival at your destination, you will collect your Drop & Fly Cabin bag, which will be placed at a safe distance from the aircrafts steps, before boarding your bus transfer or heading to the airport terminal.
