As of Saturday, 10 February, Guests can travel with and check in Smart Bags on all fastjet flights, provided the battery is disconnected. Here’s what you need to know.
Hand baggage
In order to carry your Smart Bag into the aircraft cabin, disconnect the battery and place it in the bag. Added to this, make sure your bag doesn't weight more than 7 kg or exceed dimensions 55 x 35 x 20 cm. If it does, it will need to be checked in at the check-in counter.
Drop & fly
If your hand held smart bag is labelled Drop & Fly the battery must be removed and carried in the cabin before your bag is placed in the cargo hold. Please note the bag can't weigh more than 7 kg or exceed 55 x 35 x 20 cm.
Checked baggage
If you would like to check your Smart Bag in at the check-in counter, remove the battery and carry it on board with you into the aircraft cabin.
Important information
Lithium batteries are a potential fire hazard. For safety reasons, if the battery cannot be removed or disconnected fastjet won't accept the Smart Bag for carriage. This is in line with IATA rules.
