Q&A with Mary Shonge, Cabin Services Manager

Q. Looking back, what motivated you to apply for a job at fastjet?
A. I was drawn to fastjet’s innovative approach to aviation, providing affordable air travel in Africa. Fastjet arrived with a vision to make flying accessible to more people, and I wanted to be part of that change.


Q. Can you please shed more light on your experience with the airline?
A. I have had the privilege of working with fastjet for 10 years, witnessing its growth and evolution. The airline’s dynamic environment and dedication to excellence have made my experience truly rewarding. Our adaptability, especially during COVID, showed the strength and resilience of our team.


Q. What would you say is the one thing that made you committed to fastjet Zimbabwe for a decade?
A. Fastjet’s passion for revolutionising African aviation and its people-centric culture have kept me committed. The opportunity to contribute to the airline’s mission and growth has been deeply fulfilling. It is not just a job for me; it is a family and a purpose


Q. During your time with the airline, what is the one day that you cherish the most?
A. The day I was made a purser for our inaugural flight in Zimbabwe in 2015 remains my proudest moment. Representing both our airline and our country, I felt a deep sense of pride knowing I was part of something historic.

Q. What impact would you say the airline has made in Zimbabwe and the region?
