fastjet now flying from Bulawayo to Victoria Falls

For some reason, I am always uneasy whenever I take my car to the garage. Not sure if it is the anxiety of waiting for the mechanic to deliver the diagnostic report or something else. I just don’t know.

This coming August, I have been planning a solo trip to Victoria Falls. A trip for self-reflection and treating myself on my upcoming 30th birthday. My accommodation was already booked with a list of Victoria Falls’ iconic activities already included in my four-day itinerary. What was left was a good vehicle service for my car, hence my anxious visit to the mechanic.

I do not recall the last time my phone buzzed rapidly with notifications like this. As if the whole of Bulawayo was sending me messages at the same time. On checking what the buzz was about, the whole of Bulawayo was in celebratory mode after fastjet had announced flights between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls.

Fly fastjet from Bulawayo to Victoria Falls, read the social media poster. “Whaaaaat”? I screamed. Everyone in the waiting room looked at me. With all the excitement in a Ndebele girl can master, “I said, guys, fastjet has just introduced flights from Bulawayo to Victoria Falls starting this August”.

“I live in Victoria Falls and took the bus last night, I will be happy to fly fastjet to Victoria Falls”, said a lady who was delivering some uniforms at the garage. “My two sons have classmates from Victoria Falls, and this new flight starting on the 8th of August comes at the right time”, said a gentleman who had been reading the newspaper.

Immediately, I went on the fastjet App to book my flight to Victoria Falls. There was no way I was going to drive. The notifications kept coming on my phone, showing a community in a celebratory mode after fastjet had introduced flights from Bulawayo to Victoria Falls.

Listening to the radio on my way home, the call-in programme was talking about fastjet introducing flights between Bulawayo to Victoria Falls. One caller said, “Linjani Bulawayo, fly fastjet from Bulawayo to Victoria Falls, the airline has given us a flight, let us support it, go and book now”.

As for me, I say, fly fastjet from Bulawayo to Victoria Falls.
