Hand Baggage
  • Each passenger is allowed to carry ONLY one item of hand baggage free of charge
    • Maximum dimensions: 56 x 45 x 25 cm

  • Any hand baggage exceeding the dimensions mentioned above will be checked in and charged as hold baggage at airport prices. (See Fees & Charges Table)
  • There is no weight restriction for cabin baggage. As long as you are able to lift the bag into the overhead locker and get it out again without assistance then the bag will be accepted into the cabin. 
  • Infants travelling without a seat do not have a hand baggage allowance.
  • All flights to/from SOUTH AFRICA will be limited to a 7kg hand baggage allowance with 56x36x23 cm maximum dimensions, in compliance with South African Civil Aviation requirements
     
Hold Baggage

  • Hold baggage is NOT included in the ticket. Any passenger who wish to carry more items than hand baggage allowance will have to pay an extra fee. (See Fees & Charges Table)
  • All passengers should be encouraged to pre-book their hold baggage before departure. Price of pre-booked baggage is half of the price paid at the airport or less.   (See Fees & Charges Table)
  • For flights operated by Fastjet Tanzania, each passenger is allowed to book up to 2 bags of 20 kg each.
  • For flights operated by Fastjet Zimbabwe, each passenger is allowed to book up to 1 bag of 30 kg each.
  • All bags will be weighed at the airport and passengers will be charged for any weight exceeding 20 kg. (See Fees & Charges Table)
  • For safety reasons no single item can exceed 32 kg.
  • There is NO refund or partial payment if the bag is less than the weight purchased.
  • Sports and Music equipment are NOT accepted as normal bag, they will be charged at the corresponding price. (See Fees & Charges Table)

Bucket of Fish

  • Customers departing from MWANZA may carry a bucket of fish as their hold baggage. 
  • The same charges and weight restrictions apply to a bucket of fish as to normal hold baggage. 
  • The bucket of fish must be shrink wrapped at the airport. 
  • Two buckets of fish may be carried as one bag if they are wrapped together and do not exceed 20 kg in total. 

Freighty
  • Passengers who wish to carry more than 40 kg or more than 2 bags should be encouraged to book FREIGHTY in advance. This is ideal for Traders and Families. (See Fees & Charges Table)
  • This product is only available if pre-booked before departure.
  • Passengers are allowed to carry up to 4 items of 80 kg in TOTAL
  • For safety reasons no single item can exceed 32 kg
Sports and Music Equipment

  • Passengers wishing to carry any Sports or Music Equipment will be charged the corresponding fee. (See Fees & Charges Table)
  • All passengers should be encouraged to pre-book their Sports and Music Equipment before departure. Price of pre-booked equipment is half of the price paid at the airport. (See Fees & Charges Table)
  • Each passenger can book a maximum of 1 item of 20 kg.
  • All items will be weighed at the airport and passengers will be charged for any weight exceeding 20 kg. (See Fees & Charges Table)
  • For safety reasons no single item can exceed 32 kg.
  • Sports equipment includes bicycles, golf bags, surfboard, wind and kite surfing equipment, fishing rods etc.
  • Bicycles must be packaged in a bicycle box. Bicycles without appropriate package will NOT be accepted.
  • Musical instruments must be packaged in a hard carry case. Instruments without appropriate hard case will NOT be accepted.

Equipment for children and infants
  • Customers travelling with an infant or a young child are allowed to carry a baby stroller/pram per infant or child free of charge.
  • This item will need to be tagged at check-in and be taken from to customer prior to boarding to be placed safely in the hold. Upon arrival at the destination the item may be collected from the carousel.
  • Alternatively, customers can check in the item at the check-in desk directly free of charge.  
  • For safety reasons no item may exceed 32kg.
Equipment for Passengers with Reduced Mobility
  • Passengers with reduced mobility are allowed to carry up to 2 items of mobility equipment free of charge.
  • This includes walking sticks, electric mobility aids, foldable wheelchairs etc.
Firearms
  • Hand guns may be carried on all fastjet flights.
  • Passengers (over 18 years only) must provide valid documentation to prove ownership and legal authority for the possession of the firearm(s). Without such documentation, a firearm WILL NOT be carried.
  • Firearms are subject to police and security formalities, so check-in 2 hours before departure is recommended.
  • A maximum of 5kg of ammunition may also be carried, if that is packed separately within another piece of hold luggage.

Animals
  • The carriage of live animals, including pets, insects, reptiles, or any other form of livestock is NOT permitted.
